Mozzarella Grilled Cheese

Today, our first day back after our Honeymoon in Hawaii, we decided not to get too fancy and just have something plain. So we still had some quite good mozzarella in the fridge which went on some plain brown bread. It was accompanied by Zoodles.

Scrambled Egg Grilled Cheese

This sandwich was a breakfast themed grilled cheese. I cooked some scrambled eggs (using the Gordon Ramsey method) in a pot, and then layered them on the bread which had already been coated with a generous amount of cream cheese. You might think that'd leave it a bit sloppy, but it turned out very well.

Pork Schnitzel with Apple Grilled Cheese

This was a pretty great experiment. We had purchased some centre cut pork chops and flattened them out using a tenderizer. I breaded them using flour, eggs, and panko, and then fried them in a cast iron skillet in a half inch or so of oil (did this outside on the side burner of the bbq to avoid having the house stink like oil for the next few days). We put these on the sandwich together with some apples that had been cut up and cooked down a little in a pan, along with some good quality Mozzarella cheese. This was an amazing sandwich, would make it again any time.

Cheddar and Cream Cheese Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup

Again this week I decided to make some home made tomato soup. Same as last time, but without the chicken stock (it wasn't necessary, the tomatoes had quite a bit of liquid in them). Together this went with a cheddar cheese and cream cheese grilled cheese sandwich and some pepperettes from the market.

Jalapeno Cheddar Grilled Cheese

We had 5 nice ripe tomatoes sitting on the window sill today, and they were begging to have something done with them (before they rotted). I turned them into a nice home made tomato soup to go with our grilled cheese sandwiches. That soup was really the star here. The sandwich was fairly plain, just having grated jalapeno cheddar cheese on it (which was quite mild), which melted nicely.

Prosciutto Brie and Gruyere Grilled Cheese

This sandwich was a fairly complex one. It had Prosciutto and Brie and Gruyere on a nice soft rye bread. It was super melty and delicious.

Cheddar Grilled Cheese

Today was a simple affair. Grilled cheese with cheddar alongside some Zoodles (canned animal shaped noodles in tomato sauce).

Breakfast Grilled Cheese

Today it was decided that breakfast was on the table. I also decided it was high time to try out my new cast iron skillet. It worked out pretty well, as i had some heavy bacon presses heated up too for the top of the sandwiches, to squish them down a bit, sort of like a panini. We had some nice multigrain rye bread to load up with breakfasty type ingredients. I cooked up some breakfast sausage for Allison's sandwich and some crispy side bacon for my own. I also tossed a few eggs in a pan and scrambled them (using the Gordon Ramsey method, as best as I could remember).

Three Cheese Grilled Cheese

We decided on a nice simple sandwich today. It was Marble Cheddar, Monterrey Jack, and Swiss on whole wheat bread. Served with Zoodles and the 3 of the 4 new flavours of Lays potato chips, Creamy Garlic Caesar, Perogy Platter, and Grilled Cheese & Ketchup (we didn't think Maple Moose would go well with grilled cheese).

Sampler Platter Grilled Cheeses

This week we did a little departure and created 4 separate grilled cheese sandwiches. It was amazing. This came as a direct result of being given a Grilled Cheese creator basket as a wedding shower present (thanks Ginger!). Going right to left (i know that seems backwards, but keep with me here, there's a reason) the first on the right was mushroom and Swiss, next was a pizza grilled cheese which had mozzarella, pepperoni, tomato sauce, and some more mushrooms. Third from the right was jalapenos, cream cheese, and Monterrey Jack.
